The "Temple" Animation
"The Traveler" Animation

This section is entirely devoted to my own projects, which has not been part of the academic research work. Yet, that does not mean that they are in any way inferior in quality or less interesting. I would even say that many of them are much more fascinating than the things I have to work on daily basis in the lab. All of the projects are graphics related except for the game: Checkers. To save screen space and transfer times, access to more information about each project including amazing screenshots will pop-up in new window after clicking the image thumbnails.

Checkers
Written in 1996 for a programming competition, the game "Checkers" is all about AI: Artificial Intelligence. Unfortunately, I worked with Pascal and x86 Assembly language at thet time; the code seems to no longer works on Windows machines. In my spare time, I have worked on a newer version with improved graphics, better AI, and more options.
Checkers was one of my first major projects, which was completed 100% and took first place at the competition. No bug has been found till today, seven years after its completion. I'm still proud of it, as it has become one of my dad's favorite games. After all these years, he still occasionally loses to the computer.

3D System (A3D Project)
Starting in 1995, my interest grew in 3D graphics. At first, it was in ray-tracing. Later on, I began working with real time polygonal 3D graphics. No 3D hardware accelerators were available then, so a lot of very good floating point assembly code was written at that time. I still can't belive I did that thing then !

that story and how it continues :)

Harley
"Harley" is the name of the character. I didn't create it and I didn't animate it. Yet, it was a great model with bones and skin and a key framed animation sequence from Motion-Capture to test my 3D System on. To learn more about rendering of "Harley" click on the left image.

Candle
Like "Harley", the candle is also a test scene to verify the capabilities of the 3D System. Here I was looking at a problem of global illumination using photon maps and subsurface light scattering. The fire was volume rendered. Do you wonder why the light on the wall seems strange ? Yes, it is a bug, a weird one. To find more click on the link on left.

"The Temple"
The "Temple" animation was done as the final project for my graduate animation class with Nelson Max. We used Maya software in the class, and thus these images are the only ones that were not done by software written by me. On the other hand, all the modeling and the key framing of the animation was done by me. Please click on the image for more information.

"The Traveler"
"The Traveler" animation was done as my SIGGRAPH 2003 Computer Animation Festival submission. It was eventually rejected, but neverethless I learnt a lot working on it and don't regret a single moment spent modeling, animating or rendering it. It was done in Maya.
