Support "4D Blue"

"4D Blue" is created and run by one person. I will try to work as much as I can, but there are limits to that. Therefore, as much as I would like to perfect the project in every aspect in no time, it is impossible. But you can help! Monetary support is always welcome, but there are many different aspects in which you can be involved.

Documentation

Documentations are often one of the most difficult and most vital aspects of software. At this time, I have not decided on whether it may be distributed as Windows Help files or in HTML form, and the appearance of it. I plan to work on it as the project reaches Alpha stage. If you have good ideas or would like to contribute to the writing, or at least review early versions, let me know.

Bug Tracking

I fix all major bugs as I find them, but now I often let the smaller ones slip until latter. There is also probably a group of bugs that I am completely unaware of at this time. As soon as the project reaches Alpha stage, I will welcome all bug reports and may create a separate page that devotes entirely to the purpose of handling them.

Shader Contributions

Writing "shaders" is fun, but can also be quite challenging. Good "shaders" have few instructions, and are efficient as well as giving stunning visual effect. I will finish the most common ones while there are still many potentially great “shaders” that can be written. If you are interested in writing "shaders", you will be more than welcome to submit them as soon as the project enters Alpha stage.

Gallery Contributions

Gallery is often the first place that new users visit, and the decision of giving a piece of software a try is mainly based on what they see in the Gallery. It is crucial thus that the images present in it are of high quality, attractive and visually appealing. Photorealism is sought, but good non-photorealistic rendering can be equally desirable. If you would like to contribute an image to the gallery, please review the "submitting images" section in the Gallery for more information.

Websites

Contributing to a project can be very rewarding. That is especially the case if you feel you are in charge of your contributions, and running your own fan site/website is the best way to accomplish that. This way you are 100% in charge of the context, and do not have to wait or worry about anyone uploading your website and can work on it at your own pace. If you decide to host and create a "4D Blue" related website, please inform me and I will be happy to link to it from this site.

Tutorials

Tutorials are the best way to learn any piece of software. Assuming that there is documentation, while reading it can be frustrating and time consuming, the tutorial immediately shows you how to accomplish a task and gives you an instant reward and feeling of learning something new. I will personally work on the tutorials as soon as the features become more stable and stop changing, but your future contributions are very much sought after. I am not an artist and my approach is often not the best or the most obvious. Once the release of the project becomes stable, please consider writing tutorials. It can be a fun process too.

Sponsorship and Donation

I began the project when I resigned from EA in May of 2004, and I have been working on it ever since. Yet at the same time, I still have to pay bills and support my family. Your financial support will serve two purposes, one is that your support will serve as a confirmation of my work as being useful and appreciated; second is that it will let me continue at a pace that I want. If the support is inadequate, I will return to a regular position once again.
